European Recycling Platform (ERP) is the first independent pan-European WEEE compliance scheme ever created, and the first pan-European alternative to national systems. It focuses on cost reduction through its structure as a lean organisation with outsourced operations. By maintaining a simple and cost effective business structure, ERP can offer the best level of service at the best price. As a pan-European organization, it provides an economy of scale unique among other take-back schemes. ERP currently serves more than 850 members, including 22 pan-European members, and has so far collected and recycled more than 125,000 tonnes of WEEE. It operates in Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Portugal and Spain. In Italy, it is planning to start operating in July.
In the UK, ERP was recently approved as a compliance scheme by the Environmental Agency and is also due to start operation in July. Registration is open and producers who want to register with us should go to our site for more information.
ERP recently closed an agreement with 1WEEE Services, a company specialized in European take-back and WEEE legislation as well as in national implementation. This partnership will enable ERP to extend its take back services to 27 countries in Europe. ERP will therefore become the first compliance scheme to offer its members such a wide geographic coverage and proves again its ability to maintain its leading role.
